I specialise in Blues Guitars which come from the Archtop Guitar family. Many blues players used Archtop guitars in the early days of blues. When amplification was introduced to the guitar, the Archtop guitar was adapted to the modern styles of music of the day and a new style of electric acoustic guitar was then born. This became known as the Semi Acoustic or 335 style..... And because the guitar over time was required to be played much louder with the newer styles of modern music and also produce less feedback, placing a block down the centre allowed this to be achieved.
